As the festive season is just around the corner new electric cars are awaited in a series and one of them is the Kia EV9 all-electric SUV.
The initial plan was to release the Kia EV9 in 2024, but the SUV will now be launched during the festive season which may be in early October. The Kia EV6 has been expected to be unveiled on October 3.
The all-electric SUV is set to hit Indian roads in early October. Expect a premium price tag, but the EV9 boasts impressive range, powerful performance, and advanced features.
The deliveries are expected to start after Diwali. The Kia EV9 will be the second pure electric car from Kia after the Kia EV6 and the first Kia model of an electric SUV with three rows of seats.
Even though Kia India has not revealed the specific variants that it will be launching, sources indicate that the company will start with the all-wheel-drive EV9 GT-Line. This must accompany the launch of the subsequent generation Carnival MPV. These two models were first presented in India in February at the 2023 Auto Expo and attracted much interest among the public and specialists.
EV9 as a large SUV has a tall structure with a two-box construction concept to outline a more muscular appeal.
Its design is not only expensive but futuristic, and perhaps this detail copying some of the features of the new Kia models like the Kia EV3 and Kia EV5. The new Carnival and the EV9 will be fully imported in India as completely built-up cars or CBUs.
However, the Carnival may later be assembled locally from components produced in India.
Kia EV9 E-GMP Platform and Specifications
The EV9 is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), shared across other Hyundai and Kia models, such as the popular Kia EV6.
KIA EV 9 expected value in India starts from ₹ 90.00 Lakh – 1.20 Crore (ex-showroom), making it a luxury electric SUV car.
Currently, Kia has announced plans for production of the Kia EV9 both in six seater and seven seater variants, which will make it part of the 7 seater electric cars in India.
This flexibility makes the EV9 an interesting choice for families and anyone who would like a big, electric SUV.
KIA EV9 Competitors
Kia EV9 should rival electric cars such as the Mercedes EQB, Audi Q8 e-tron, and the BMW iX.
Final Thoughts
The Kia EV9 is also yet to hit the market, and it will be available in the market during the festive season which may create an added appeal to potential purchasers looking for new cars. Thus, creating a solid demand for the EV9 in India due to its features such as advances, durability, wide range, and spaciousness to fit the new markets for electric SUVs.
